Honolulu
Honolulu is the largest city in Hawaii, located on the southeast coast of the island of Oahu. It is believed that the first settlers Hawaiian Islands arrived from the Marquesas sometime between 500 and 800 and then from Tahiti around year 1000. The first European to explore the region was British explorer Captain James Cook, he arrived on the island of Oahu, on January 18, 1778.
In 1795, King Kamehameha the Great united the islands under one kingdom.
During Kamehameha’s reign Honolulu was a village consisting of small huts. The name Honolulu, means protected bay. By the 1820s, whaling ships began to stop in Honolulu.
