Kentucky
Kentucky became a U.S. state on February 14 1859, as the 33th state. It was the first region west of the Allegheny Mountains to be settled by American pioneers.
Harrodsburg was established as the first settlement in 1774.
The largest cities in Kentucky are Louisville, Owensboro, Bowling Green, Covington, Richmond and Hopkinsville.

Location
To the south it border Tennessee for 425 miles (685 km), on the southeast with Virginia. West Virginia on the northeast. Top north, follows the Ohio River to the Mississippi, to Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois. South west is Missouri.
Climate
Kentucky has a moderate, humid climate, with abundant rainfall. The south and lowland regions are warmer. In Louisville, the normal monthly mean temperature ranges from 33°F (1°C) in January to 76°F (24°C) in July.
